We are. . . Lee

Mar 23, 2021 | We Are. . .

I have never felt comfortable in the water when swimming and avoided it but in 2007 decided to start swimming regular, took a lot to get comfortable and taught myself with you tube videos to swim with face in the water. Managed to get reasonably comfortable in the water and swim well. Roll forward to 2009 I went to Egypt for a weeks holiday and joined a day excursion to snorkel and try scuba. The snorkelling was good but the scuba blew me away, the visibility and warmth!

Roll onto 2012 and 2013 and went to Malta to do my PADI Open Water and PADI Advanced Open Water. I really struggled with the mask removal but felt so stoked when I achieved it. I did not actually dive in the UK till 2014 after joining BSAC with my wife. From there I have dived Egypt, Croatia, Cyprus, Maldives, Scotland, the UK, Iceland and Spain.

Currently becoming more familiar with the sidemount system as I like the redundancy and access to the valves. I would like to progress towards Tec diving mainly to increase my time underwater but at the moment I just like to spend time underwater to relax and practice the skills learnt so far. Most of my diving of recent has been with Rec2Tec Diving on their social days (a blessing with my shift pattern), been instrumental in helping after a couple of difficult dives, helping me practice buoyancy and improve my confidence.
